Avalanche safety courses are for anyone 15 years or older who want to develop their toolset and skills to participate in and/or manage backcountry traveling groups. Courses are accredited through the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE). Participants must attend all sessions to receive a completion certificate for the course.
The AIARE 2 is a three-day/24-hour course that provides backcountry travelers an opportunity to advance their decision making skills in more complicated situations such as being a leader within a small travel group, traveling in more complicated terrain, and/or developing a travel plan where resources are scarce. The AIARE 2 course will take place at Columbine, CO for the three days. Participants will stay at Columbine Cabins and field sessions will be based out of that area.
