ABOUT FILM 1: AMERICAN HATE: SURVIVORS SPEAK
With one of its main stories in Tulsa, this feature-length documentary film exposes the rise of violent hate crimes in America through the lens of the victims and their families. These first-person accounts give viewers an opportunity to see, hear, and feel what it means to be targeted on account of who you are or what you believe. American Hate—Survivors Speak takes viewers from the scene of the crime to the long-term effects and haunting memories that forever endure.
ABOUT FILM 2: WHO KILLED ALEX ODEH?
Activist, teacher, and poet Alex Odeh was a leading voice in his community, advocating in the media for peace and justice through dialogue and respect for all people. In October 1985, he was assassinated by a tripwire bomb placed in his office. Despite evidence and suspects identified at the time, no one has ever been held accountable for this horrible act of political violence. Using archival footage and contemporary investigation, we are taken back to the time of Odeh’s murder and trace the extremist forces that may have been behind his death and the disturbing ramifications that remain today.
