America at 250: The New Look of American Design
Public tours on weekdays at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm
Monday, June 29 through Friday, July 10 (WDC is closed 7/3)
(RSVP required to Washington Design Center to attend tours)
This showcase of the finest American home furnishings, in vignettes created by the next generation of American interior designers, was two years in the making. Each vignette was created by students from Howard University under the guidance of noted Professor of Interior Design, Jacqueline Carmichael in collaboration with their Partner-in-Design Showroom. Participating showrooms provided the stage setting and products enabling the students to make their debut as professional designers.
The students will be prominently featured throughout the run of the showcase, which will be open to the public on Monday, June 29th and conclude on Friday July 10th. Tours of the center will be given by local interior designers each day at 11 am and 1 pm. These guided tours will not only be informative and enjoyable; they will provide visitors with curated immersive design experiences. As a to-the-trade center, showrooms provide services and sell only to professional designers.
