About this Event
Join us for a film screening and panel conversation exploring historical trauma, its continuing effects, and possibilities for repair.
As part of Altars Festival 2026, this gathering creates space to consider how the legacy of slavery shapes lives and communities today. The screening and panel will invite reflection on the connections between history, lived experience, and the work of healing.
Doors open at 5:30 PM. A social gathering follows at 8 PM at Lily Black, 212 E. Clay Street, #1B, Richmond, VA 23219.
Part of Altars Festival 2026
Altars Festival brings people together through communal altar making, conversation, music, film, and wellness. Taking place November 1–7 in Richmond and Petersburg, this year’s festival centers on reconciliation, repair, and reconstruction: acknowledging the histories we carry, tending to relationships and communities, and considering what we can build together.
Whether you join us for one gathering or several, we invite you to reflect, connect, and participate.
