About this Event
In Almas Sin Fronteras, Teatro Almas Libres’ fourth and final original play, La Catrina, El Catrín, La Flaca, La Calico and other calaveras travel across borders between life and death, countries, detention and freedom, and the living and the dead.
Created and performed by nine immigrant women who are farmworkers, domestic workers, mothers, artists, and storytellers, the play blends pithy rhyme, humor, political satire, ritual, and ancestral traditions around death and remembrance.
The mobile ofrenda is also the stage, filled with reclaimed objects transformed into flowers, costumes, and places to dance.
