Singer-Songwriters Allison Strong and Maidin will share the stage and swap songs during the monthly Hard Luck Cafe concert series at the Cinema Arts Centre (423 Park Avenue, Huntington, NY) on Wednesday, Oct. 21. Tickets for the 8 p.m. concert that is preceded by an open mic at 7 p.m. (for which sign-up opens at 6:30 p.m.) are $26 ($20 for members) and may be purchased online or at the box office.
Allison Strong, a captivating vocalist who sings in both English and Spanish, is an alumna of the prestigious Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project at Belmont University and ASCAP’s Pop Songwriters Project, as well as a Hudson West Folk Fest Emerging Artist winner. Beyond her significant contributions to music, Allison is also an accomplished actress. She has appeared alongside Adam Sandler and Chris Rock in the Netflix original feature The Week Of, had a recurring role in the Emmy Award-winning TV series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, stars in the independent feature film Either Side of Midnight, and has numerous TV credits. Allison also performed on Broadway as a cast member for Bye Bye Birdie and Mamma Mia and is a bilingual voiceover artist. For more information and to hear some of her music, visit allisonstrong.com.
Maidin — whose artist name means morning in Irish Gaelic — indie folk and alternative pop stylings have drawn comparison to such artists as Joni Mitchell, Bon Iver, and Phoebe Bridgers. Like her friend Allison, she also was a 2025 Hudson West Folk Fest Emerging Artist. Her songs paint vivid emotional landscapes with lyrics that often dwell on her lifelong obsession with nature.
