About this Event
In this rhyming Pacific Northwest adventure, Piper encounters a challenge that threatens to keep her from doing what she loves most. With perseverance, courage, and a little help from nature, she learns that obstacles can become opportunities for growth. Join Piper as she trades her unlucky pencil for muddy hiking boots and sets off on an adventure through Olympic National Park. Along the way, young readers will discover the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and the power of determination. Perseverant Piper also includes a Pacific Northwest species glossary and an Indigenous Peoples land acknowledgment, encouraging children to appreciate both the natural world and the people who have cared for it for generations.
Allison Schoening Rataezyk is a local author, teacher, and mom of three adventurous explorers. She spent her first years of teaching overseas, but the beauty of Washington's mountains, forests, and coastlines eventually called her home. When she isn't composing her latest rhyme, she can often be spotted with binoculars in hand, searching for birds, wildlife, and the next great story. A lover of the outdoors, Allison spends her free time hiking Washington's trails, skiing the local hills, or practicing her tap dance moves in grocery store aisles. Her writing is inspired by curiosity, adventure, and the joy of finding wonder in everyday moments. You can find her on Instagram or at her website allisonrataezyk.com
