📣 Very Exciting Announcement!!! ALL NEW DANCE CLASS (4-week session) STARTING FRIDAY NOV, 20th at 6:30pm! 🔥DTE DANCE COLLECTIVE Presents — INTRO TO HOUSE DANCE! 🔥
Looking for a fresh new way to move, groove, and express yourself on the dance floor? Let us introduce you to HOUSE!
If you love music that makes you want to get up and MOVE, you’re going to love this!
House Dance is a high-energy, feel-good street dance style born in the underground clubs of Chicago and New York in the late ’70s and early ’80s. With roots in tap, jazz, salsa, African dance, and hip-hop, it’s all about infectious beats, intricate footwork, fluid movement, and finding your own groove!
Think quick feet, funky rhythms, a little bounce, and a whole lot of freedom!
Led by Ojuang Mayenga, this class focuses on authentic House Dance steps, techniques, and grooves, giving you the tools to dance freely, improvise, and develop your own style rather than focusing on memorizing choreography.
It’s playful, expressive, an amazing workout, and seriously FUN!
(Check out the short video of Ojuang at our last Open Floor Night in the Discussion for this Event)!
Learn the steps. Feel the music. Find your own groove.

ABOUT OJUANG — Ojuang Mayenga is a natural-born dancer who began as a freestyle dancer, inspired by watching Michael Jackson, Breakin’, and specifically, Step 2 in the living room of his childhood home in Arusha, Tanzania. Young Ojuang would entertain his older family members by dancing to the latest Timbaland songs, popping and locking. Although he never asked for it, his cousins usually tipped him a couple of dollars.
In 2023, Ojuang was introduced to house dance while selling art on the streets of NYC. He had the opportunity to learn about the spiritual elements of house music by spending time with the originators of this genre of dance. He’s been dancing ever since, hoping to share and enjoy this wonderful art form called house dance with others.
