AFTER THE GROUP OF SEVEN OIL PAINTING WITH RICK WORTHINGTONJoin artist Rick Worthington for a one-day oil painting workshop inspired by J.E.H. MacDonald's iconic Algoma Waterfall, 1920. Working from one of the Group of Seven most celebrated landscapes, students will explore the techniques and artistic choices that make this artist so powerful and enduring.
Through guided, participants will develop skills in colour mixing, brushwork, and landscape interpretation. Examine how MacDonald simplified the natural world into strong shapes and rhythmic patterns, using bold colour, expressive mark-making, and dynamic composition to capture the energy and spirit of the Canadian wilderness.
By the end of the workshop, artists will have completed their own version of this classic painting and gained valuable insights into the approach and techniques of one of Canada's most distinguished landscape painters.
