About this Event

If you have the opportunity to talk about alcohol in your role but need some extra support with how to structure this, this FREE Alcohol Brief Intervention (ABI) Skills Development training can provide this.

Alcohol Brief Interventions (ABIs) are short, evidence-based, structured conversations, focused on alcohol consumption at a hazardous or harmful level with patients/clients carried out in a non-confrontational way. The aim is to motivate and support the person to think about and perhaps plan a change in their drinking behaviour to reduce their consumption and risk to health. ABIs are backed by a body of research evidence as effective contributions to the wider strategic effort to reduce the harm caused by alcohol.

Having completed this course, you will feel comfortable and confident in discussing alcohol consumption and in delivering Alcohol Brief Interventions.

It is a requirement of attending this course that you will report how many ABIs you complete on a monthly or quarterly basis to NHSGG&C who provide the funding for the course via Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership. You will be contacted by Graeme Mathew, Health Improvement Senior to assess your eligibility for the course.
