About this Event
The Grief of Whiteness workshop, co-facilitated by Jamie Litton and Emily Nascimento, is for white women of European descent interested in addressing the weapon and the wound of whiteness through writing, discussion, and ritual. While all are welcome, we believe white women hold a specific moral injury and moral responsibility when engaging in work around ancestral healing, spiritual reclamation, and accountability. Participants will learn more about why grief matters in antiracist discourse, how whiteness creates disconnection, and how ritual can support and sustain our ongoing divestment from white supremacy.
About the facilitators: Jamie Litton is a practicing witch and PhD student in the Women’s Spirituality program at California Institute of Integral Studies. Her research focus lies at the intersection of contemporary Paganism, women, witchcraft, whiteness.Emily Nascimento is a ritualist, community organizer, and leadership philosopher whose current focus is on ancestral remembrance, reclamation, and repair through grief work, ritual, somatic practice, and engaged spiritual activism.
