Alabama Shakespeare Festival Insights:Beyond Fences: August Wilson and the American Story Saturday,
October 31 | 12:45 pm - 1:30 pm
I am thrilled to join Dr. Jacqueline Trimble, Poet Laureate of Alabama, at the 2026 Alabama Shakespeare Festival for a lively and thoughtful conversation about August Wilson’s enduring impact. We'll explore Wilson's lasting influence on American theatre and culture, the richness and complexity of the human experience through his American Century Cycle (which chronicles Black American life across each decade of the twentieth century), and share thoughts on how the work of this master storyteller and prophetic voice speaks to our present.
