Course overview
What would your workday look like if you could delegate more of its preparation, research, drafting, and routine analysis?
This program helps professionals move from occasional AI use to a deliberate approach to getting work done. You will examine the demands on your time, identify appropriate opportunities for AI assistance, and develop a repeatable workflow around a real professional responsibility.
The emphasis is on defining the work clearly: what information AI needs, what a useful result looks like, and where your expertise and judgment remain essential. Through demonstrations, guided application, and peer discussion, you will test one workflow and create a plan for putting it into regular use.
Who should attend
Business owners and entrepreneurs seeking greater operating capacity; managers and team leaders responsible for planning and reporting; consultants managing multiple clients; administrative and operations professionals coordinating information; and marketing, sales, and service professionals preparing communications.
It is particularly relevant if you have experimented with AI but have not established a consistent way to use it in your work.
Prerequisites and preparation
No programming or previous AI experience is required. Participants should be comfortable using a browser and editing digital documents. Bring a laptop and one recurring task to improve, such as a weekly report, proposal, meeting summary, or communication sequence. Use nonconfidential or anonymized materials.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
Assess tasks for their suitability for AI assistance.
Define instructions that specify context, constraints, and quality expectations.
Use AI to support communication, research, and information synthesis.
Evaluate responses for accuracy, relevance, and missing information.
Design a repeatable workflow with human review and measures of usefulness.
COURSE 1 | CURRICULUM AND PARTICIPANT DELIVERABLES
Curriculum
Six one-hour modules including instruction, discussion, and applied work.
Module 1 Reassessing the Workday
Examine how your time is distributed across preparation, execution, coordination, and decision-making. Identify recurring demands and select one task based on frequency, effort, and suitability for AI support.
Working output: A prioritized task assessment and a defined project.
Module 2 Defining and Delegating Work to AI
Translate an intention into a clear assignment. Specify the objective, audience, source information, constraints, and expected deliverable. Refine instructions when an initial response falls short.
Working output: A reusable instruction template.
Module 3 Communication and Content Development
Apply AI to professional emails, proposals, reports, and recurring communications. Preserve your voice, adapt material to different audiences, and check that the message serves its purpose.
Working output: A reviewed communication draft and style brief.
Module 4 Research and Decision Preparation
Organize supplied information, compare alternatives, and surface unanswered questions. Distinguish plausible responses from supported conclusions, verify claims, and communicate uncertainty.
Working output: A structured briefing or comparison with verification notes.
Module 5 Building a Repeatable Workflow
Connect inputs, instructions, review, and delivery into a repeatable sequence. Identify where information must be updated and where human approval is necessary.
Working output: A workflow and quality-review checklist.
Module 6 Testing and Implementation
Run the workflow against a representative example. Evaluate the result, revise weak steps, and define how to assess time spent and work quality over the next month.
Working output: A tested workflow and 30-day implementation plan.
Learning experience
Instructor demonstrations, individual working sessions, discussion, and structured peer review. Participants apply the concepts to one professional task throughout the day.
What participants will take away
A task-priority map, reusable instructions, reviewed sample outputs, a documented workflow, and a 30-day implementation plan.
Networking: One hour of facilitated peer discussion, professional connection, and exchange of implementation ideas, in person at Guild Hall Learning in Natick.

Instructor biography
David Martelli
Educator, Technologist and Entrepreneur | Founder, Guild Hall Learning
David Martelli brings together three perspectives that shape how he teaches AI: the technical depth of a systems engineer, the practical judgment of a business owner, and more than a decade of experience helping people understand complex ideas.
His career includes more than 15 years in the high-tech industry, spanning systems engineering, program management, and software development, with work at Northrop Grumman and the U.S. Department of Defense. That experience grounds his instruction in the realities of building and implementing technology—where reliability, clear decisions, and execution matter.
David also brings extensive classroom and educational leadership experience. He has taught robotics, computer science, physics, and mathematics in Boston public schools and served as Director of Technology and Head of Computer Science and Engineering. Across these roles, he has developed the ability to recognize where understanding breaks down, explain difficult concepts in familiar terms, and guide learners toward independent application.
Today, David leads Guild Hall Learning, a network of STEM education centers where he develops programs and teaches audiences ranging from small groups to full auditoriums. As an entrepreneur and educator, he understands both the demands of running an organization and the process of building new capabilities.
His workshops bring that combination directly to professionals navigating AI. Participants learn how the technology works, where it can contribute to their goals, and how to evaluate and apply it with sound judgment. David makes sophisticated ideas approachable while preserving the depth people need to put them to work.
