AI-generated material -- Challenges and Opportunities for Tribunals

Date: Tuesday 12th of May, 2026 — 5:15pm to 7pm

Venue: Administrative Review Tribunal

Overview

Curious about the future of tribunal work and AI? This event explores AI in Courts and Tribunals -- the opportunities and challenges.

Join COAT at a Twilight seminar for a presentation by Professor Emerita Tania Sourdin on the challenges of AI-generated material in Court and Tribunal proceedings. Tania has experience working in a range of Courts and Tribunals. We will also be exploring the opportunities and challenges AI brings for decision-makers.

The use of technology is changing the way we practise law. The integration of AI into Courts and Tribunals can present both risks and benefits for decision-makers.

The misuse of generative AI in legal matters has been documented, with cases arising where litigants and lawyers rely on AI-generated submissions or citations that contain errors, omissions, or invented authorities.

AI can also be a valuable tool for improving access to justice, streamlining case management, and improving the productivity of decision-makers.

Don’t miss out on this insightful and friendly event.

To be followed by drinks and finger food.
