What does AI know about you? A free, hands-on workshop to see your digital footprint, review your privacy settings and take back control.
About this Event

What does AI know about you, and what can you do about it?

Every app you use, search you run and post you share adds to a picture of who you are online. AI tools and search engines are getting better at pulling that picture together, and most of us have never looked at what it shows.

This free, hands-on workshop, presented by Blackhurst Cultural Centre and Youth Unlocked, helps you see your digital footprint and take control of it. Participants should bring their devices so we can optimize their settings together.

In this session, you will:

  • Find out what information about you is publicly available, and where it comes from
  • Review and adjust the privacy settings on your phone, apps and social media accounts
  • Learn your privacy rights in Canada, and what you can do when information about you is wrong or shouldn’t be public
  • Learn practical steps to clean up and shape how you appear online
  • Bring your questions to a closing panel with all three facilitators

Your facilitators

  • Dr. Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Co-Founder, Blackhurst Exchange; Postdoctoral Fellow, Lassonde School of Engineering (2020–23). Leads the session on how AI finds, combines and sometimes gets wrong information about us.
  • Silja Mitange, MA, Communication & Culture. Leads “Identity, AI Safety and Digital Culture”: deepfakes, reputation and protecting creative work.
  • Seun Arowoogun, Lawyer. Leads “Your Data, Your Rights”: Canadian privacy protections and their limits.

Moderator/MC: Kimora Lee Harris Taylor, Founder, Youth Unlocked
