AI & Technology Parent Information Night
Dear CCS Families,
For nearly two years, our curriculum and technology teams have been thoughtfully preparing for the responsible use of artificial intelligence in our schools. This work has included reviewing best practices, evaluating tools, and developing clear expectations for when and how AI can support student learning.
Our new AI guidance applies only to secondary students. Elementary students will not use AI tools. At the secondary level, the tools available to students and how they may be used will vary by age and grade level.
As we prepare to introduce this guidance, we want families to understand our approach, see the approved tools in action, and have the opportunity to ask questions.
AI & Technology Parent Information Night
Thursday, November 5 | 7:00–8:30 p.m.
Clarkston Junior High School Performing Arts Center
We’ll begin together with an overview of our approach to AI, including how tools were evaluated and selected and the safeguards and expectations we have put in place.
Families can then attend age-specific breakout sessions for younger and older secondary students. We’ll demonstrate the approved AI tools and share examples of how they may be used to support learning. We'll offer each breakout twice so families with students in both age groups can attend both sessions.
While the new guidance applies only to secondary students, all CCS families are welcome to attend.
AI is changing quickly, but our approach is intentional: to help students learn to use these tools appropriately, responsibly, and in ways that strengthen, not replace, their learning.
We hope you’ll join us on November 5.
