The Nebraska Guardians of the Aquifer invites you to an event to learn about artificial intelligence (AI) and data centers. Several Nebraska counties have been asked to allow data centers in their communities. Thousands of acres of agricultural land have already been optioned by industry investors that want to build numerous mega data centers in Nebraska. Local planning, zoning and county commission boards have encountered strong community resistance to data centers. Citizens have many concerns about the impacts on the environment including air pollution from the gas powered plants needed to run the centers, extreme water usage, polluted waste water disposal, noise and light pollution, loss of agricultural lands, home devaluations, adverse effects on livestock and wildlife to name a few. Communities will need to also consider fire department response, damage to roads, and decommissioning of data centers. Who will be held financially and legally accountable for any negative effects caused by data centers? Will fines be imposed? Will taxpayers foot the bill? Our community has the opportunity to come together to learn and discuss these urgent issues. A panel will provide an overview of the issues and an opportunity for questions and answers from our audience. Please join us SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24TH, 2026 FROM 10:00 A.M.
