About this Event
Data and AI are reshaping the way we live, work and do business. This event brings DataFest 2026, Scotland's leading data and AI event, to the North East, giving local professionals, academics and students direct access to the ideas and voices shaping Scotland's AI future.
The afternoon opens with a livestream of Jimmy Wales, Founder of Wikipedia, speaking live from DataFest in Edinburgh. Described by The Guardian as the “last decent tech baron,” Jimmy Wales is one of the most influential internet pioneers of our time. At a time when disinformation and fake news are reshaping the digital landscape, Jimmy joins us for an exclusive fireside chat, 'The Future of Truth'.
We'll then move onto a keynote AI showcase from Aberdeen-based company Elementz, including an introduction to their AI accelerator programme, Tidebreaker. The programme concludes with a panel discussion on one of the most pressing questions of our time: Will AI work for us, or will we work for AI? Finishing up with an open audience Q&A.
You'll leave with a clearer understanding of how AI is being adopted in practice, what it means for the future of work and skills, and how organisations across the North East can get ahead of the curve. This is a free, local opportunity to be part of a national conversation!
This event is supported by Barclays Eagle Labs and ONE Tech Hub.
