Aged Care Support Group [PENRITH]

Caring for an older family member or friend is a role filled with love, responsibility and change. While you're supporting someone else, it's important to make time for your own wellbeing too.

Our Aged Care Carer Peer Support Group is an 8-week program designed for unpaid Carers who are supporting an older person. It's a welcoming space where you can connect with others who understand the unique experiences of caring, share stories, learn from one another, and find encouragement along the way.

Each week you'll have the opportunity to explore topics that support your health and wellbeing, navigate the caring journey with greater confidence, and build meaningful connections with fellow Carers. Whether you're looking for practical ideas, emotional support, or simply a chance to step away from your caring role for a little while, you'll be warmly welcomed.

Over the 8 weeks, you'll enjoy:

• Connection with other unpaid Carers who understand your journey.
• Conversations about wellbeing, self-care and navigating the caring role.
• A safe, welcoming and supportive environment.
• Opportunities to reduce isolation and build lasting friendships.
• Time that's dedicated to you.

Who can attend?
This group is for anyone providing unpaid care to an older family member, friend or neighbour, whether they're living independently, receiving aged care services, or experiencing age-related frailty, dementia or chronic health conditions.

Please note: This is an 8-week peer support program. We encourage participants to attend each session where possible to gain the greatest benefit and build supportive connections with the group.

Please note: These sessions are especially for people who provide unpaid care to family members or friends, as recognised under the National Carer Recognition Act. This means the sessions are not suitable for paid careworkers, support workers or service providers, unless you also provide care for someone personally outside of your professional role.
