Na wystawie Agaty Cieślak „Moją duszą urządź swój algorytm” pokazane zostaną rysunki i obiekty, które powstały w ramach i na marginesach realizacji „Miror, Miror – The Musical”. Jednocześnie jest to kolejny pokaz wynikający bezpośrednio z pracy nad tym filmem. Tym razem artystka odwołuje się do formatu pitchingu – skondensowanej, intensywnej prezentacji, stosowanej w branży medialnej, aby przekonać potencjalnych partnerów do pomysłu.
O ile sama akcja musicalu osadzona jest w przyszłości, o tyle pokazywane na wystawie prace pozwalają łatwo odnaleźć odniesienia do obecnego stanu rzeczy, społeczno-ekonomiczno-politycznego tu i teraz. W tej wystawie Agata Cieślak zadaje pytania o współczesne lęki, takie jak obecność sztucznej inteligencji potęgującej katastrofę klimatyczną i dysproporcje społeczne, unikając nachalnego alarmizmu, ale też bez filtrów i eskapizmu. Jeżeli gdzieś widzi źródło współczesnych problemów, to właśnie w powszechnej nieświadomości wpływu formy na relacje społeczno-polityczne. Jeśli szuka rozwiązań, to w społecznej emancypacji, której narzędziem może być również sztuka, nawet jeśli oznacza to dyskomfort i wysiłek w dążeniu do własnej podmiotowości.

Agata Cieślak. Configure Your Algorithm with My Soul

“Configure Your Algorithm with My Soul” is an exhibition of drawings and objects created during and alongside the production of Mirror, Mirror – The Musical; it is also the latest presentation to emerge directly from work on that film. This time, the artist draws on the “pitch” format, a condensed, high-intensity presentation used in the media industry to sell an idea to potential partners.
While the musical is set in the future, the works on display clearly reference the current state of affairs, the socio-economic and political reality of the here and now. In this exhibition, Agata Cieślak explores contemporary anxieties, such as the role of artificial intelligence in exacerbating the climate crisis and social inequalities, without heavy-handed alarmism, filters, or escapism. If she identifies a root cause of modern problems, it lies in a widespread lack of awareness of how form shapes socio-political relations. If she seeks solutions, she finds them in social emancipation, a process in which art can serve as a tool, even when pursuing one’s own agency entails discomfort and effort.
