About this Event

A Conversation About Your Blood, The Lab, And What It Reveals

Join a medical laboratory scientist and scientific educator for What Can One Tube of Blood Tell Us? A behind-the-scenes look at what happens after your blood is drawn and before a few numbers eventually appear in your patient portal. You get your blood drawn, the tube disappears behind the lab doors, and eventually a few numbers appear in your patient portal. But what actually happens in between? Follow the journey of a single blood test tube from the moment it leaves your arm to the moment it becomes meaningful medical information.

What We'll Cover:

• The Tube - Explore what different tube colors indicate and why using the right tube matters for accurate testing.

• The Journey - Discover what happens to your blood sample after the draw, from collection and transport to storage and processing in the laboratory.

• The Information - Learn how laboratories analyze blood cells, clinical chemistries, and other components of your sample to help us understand what’s happening inside the body.

Whether you're curious about what happens to your blood after a lab draw, interested in the science behind everyday medical tests, or simply fascinated by the hidden processes that help turn a single sample into meaningful information, this conversation will give you a new perspective on what happens behind the scenes of healthcare.
