After Rest, A Musical Performance by Composer Lauren Sonder at Positive Space, October 3
Get ready to get cozy. After Rest is an intimate musical experience by composer Lauren Sonder that invites the audience to slow down, rest, and dream. The event features an immersive set of original piano music played by candlelight, framed by guided reflection before and after the performance. Guests are encouraged to experience the music in whatever way feels most supportive, either lying down or seated. Born from Lauren’s experience as a neurodivergent person requiring a lot of rest, the event affirms embodied ways of knowing. At the heart of the evening are two questions: What is a restful space, and what becomes possible when we allow ourselves to rest?
About the Artist: Lauren Sonder is a composer and performer based in Oklahoma. Her intimate, felt piano sound draws on a mix of pop and classical aesthetics and explores ideas of softness, openness, and trust. Lauren’s newest project, After Rest, invites the audience to slow down, rest, and dream. Her 2025 EP Missing has been called “one of the most quietly affecting and deeply felt Oklahoman releases of the year” (Brett Fieldcamp, Oklahoma City Free Press). Lauren has performed at the University of Oklahoma, Factory Obscura, The Medium, Moonbeam Conservatory, Opolis, the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, and other regional venues, as well as internationally in Coswig Anhalt and Berlin, Germany. Lauren has a Bachelor’s in music from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Master’s in music from the University of Oklahoma. In addition to composing and performing, she has an active teaching schedule.

A limited number of floor mats will be provided, along with chairs. Guests are welcome to bring their own mats, blankets, pillows, or other comfort items to create a personal resting space.
