Afrotypes and the Anti-Archive: The Conversation

This annual panel discussion speaks to a dual gesture. Afrotypes acknowledges the visual languages, symbols, and iconographies that circulate within Black expressive cultures - the motifs that persist, transform, and reconnect across continents. "The Anti-Archive" names what this exhibition refuses: the idea that the African diaspora is a closed book, a story already told. Instead, the conversation proposes a different kind of memory - fragmented, mobile, adaptive - rooted not in fixed origins, but in the ongoing work of imagining.
