About this Event
Afro Classics, the UK’s largest African and Caribbean classic car club based in Lewisham. We invite the community to our first event of 2026 on Bank Holiday Sunday 5 April at Forest Road Brewery, SE14 5RW. This gathering will remember those who lost their lives in the New Cross Fire and honour all affected by this tragedy. Local orators leading reflections, with music from sound systems active in 1981 or formed shortly after.
The event provides space to reflect, celebrate life, and imagine what might have been had fourteen members of the community survived.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in early ’80s style, let's make this event classic on all levels. A selection of classic cars will be on display, feel free to encourage friends to bring their classics early and then join our car family. We have an exciting season ahead of us including trips to Wales and Belgium.
The event is free, with online registration - limited capacity. Licensed bar and food on sale. No alcohol to be brought on premises.
Afro Classics aims to play its part in preserving history, and ensure this legacy is remembered and honoured.
