AFI Silver After Dark: REDLINE (2009)Tickets just $8 / Drink Specials
The Redline — the galaxy’s deadliest and most popular car race — is about to begin. Reckless, daredevil driver JP (Takuya Kimura) is determined to reach first place with the sleek, ultra-customized TransAM20000. Winning will not be easy, as JP must contend with the militant cyborgs, the space mafia and Sonoshee McLaren (Yū Aoi), the alluring competitor he falls for — not to mention all the other deranged drivers in the race. Produced by studio Madhouse (NINJA SCROLL, PERFECT BLUE, PAPRIKA) and directed by Takeshi Koike (WORLD RECORD, part of THE ANIMATRIX), REDLINE is an exhilarating, high-octane ride through a dazzlingly intricate and chaotic world. It took Madhouse seven years to produce, resulting in over 100,000 hand-drawn illustrations filled with blazing kineticism.
In Japanese with English subtitles. NOT RATED
