"Forty years ago, this event started as a canned food drive among friends who refused to look away while our community was in crisis. Today, that same spirit of chosen family and generosity fills a nightclub with hundreds of people who show up for one another,” said Antioco Carrillo, AFAN executive director. “The Black & White Party has grown, but its heart hasn't changed, it's still about friends taking care of friends.”
Beyond the celebration, this milestone 40th anniversary event connects the community to resources including free HIV testing, HIV care navigation, and up-to-date information on Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U). Whether someone is newly diagnosed or returning to care after time away, AFAN's doors remain open, standing as a trusted community resource for over four decades strong.
Guests are encouraged to dress to the theme, as much black and white as they like, or as little as they can get away with, in support of AFAN's mission to end HIV stigma and ensure equitable access to care and prevention. Early bird tickets are available for $50 through July 31 at afanlv.org.
The Black & White Party is presented in partnership with Clark County’s Love! Live! U=U Campaign, which promotes the medically proven fact that people living with HIV who maintain an undetectable viral load cannot transmit the virus to sexual partners.
