The AFAM Sankofa Symposium brings together scholars, students, and community for a full day of dialogue rooted in the Sankofa tradition: the understanding that we must know where we've been in order to chart where we're going.Over the course of the day, we'll move through the intellectual, cultural, and political legacy of Black Studies – tracing its defining moments, honoring the thinkers and activists who shaped it, and asking hard questions about what renewal and resistance look like now. Panel discussions, presentations, and open conversation will create space for both reflection and forward thinking.
This is not simply a symposium. It is a reckoning, a celebration, and a recommitment – to the ongoing work of justice, liberation, and cultural affirmation. We're looking back to move forward. Come be part of a meaningful dialogue that honors the past, confronts the present, and builds strategies for a more empowered future. Come ready to engage. Leave ready to act.
🤎There is nothing wrong if you forget and you go back for it🤎
