About this Event
Advancing Women-Owned Enterprises in Nigeria
Women-owned enterprises are central to inclusive growth, poverty reduction, and sustainable development, yet they remain disproportionately constrained by structural barriers, including limited access to finance, restrictive policies, unpaid care burdens, and unequal participation in markets. In Nigeria, these constraints intersect with macroeconomic shocks, climate risks, and informality, shaping women’s entrepreneurial realities in distinct ways.
This CSW parallel event will examine what it truly takes to advance women-owned enterprises beyond rhetoric, through gender-responsive economic policies, innovative financing, institutional accountability, and ecosystem-wide collaboration. Drawing on lessons from Nigeria and connecting to global feminist economic debates, the event will provide a space for policymakers, practitioners, financiers, and women entrepreneurs to exchange strategies that work, examine those that don’t, and co-create pathways to scale women’s economic power across diverse contexts.
