Take Your Wilderness First Aid Skills to the Next Level — this is the course for guides and dedicated outdoor enthusiasts.In this course, you will learn advanced skills in patient assessment, accident management, and prolonged patient care when medical support is limited or unavailable.
The course is designed for those who travel, work, or lead trips in remote natural environments where medical assistance is not immediately accessible. You will receive thorough, hands-on training in managing emergencies in the field—from initial assessment to extended patient care and safe evacuation.
Approximately half of the course is spent on practical outdoor exercises, giving you the opportunity to test and apply your skills under realistic conditions.
What You Will Learn
Patient assessment and prioritization in the field
Management of severe bleeding, shock, and unconscious patients
Fracture management, sprains, and wound care
Environmental injuries (cold, heat, altitude, drowning, and more)
Prolonged patient care and casualty transportation
Communication with rescue services and evacuation planning
The course also includes CPR and AED training (Level C) for adults, children, and infants. This component is mandatory for certification.
Course Format
The course runs over four full days (40 hours total), combining classroom instruction, realistic scenarios, and practical field exercises.
Two of the course days include evening training sessions.
Certification
Upon successful completion, participants receive a SIRIUSMEDx certification, valid for three years.
Certification is awarded based on performance in practical exercises and a final assessment.
