Advanced Optometry: Refractive Surgery & Myopia Management Double Header

"Beyond 20/20: Modern Refractive Surgery and the Art of Patient Selection" COPE Course 106337

Modern refractive surgery offers an expanding range of options for reducing dependence on spectacles and contact lenses, including advanced corneal laser vision correction, phakic intraocular lenses, and lens-based refractive procedures. As treatment options have expanded, appropriate patient selection has become increasingly important. In this course, Dr. Dagny Zhu provides optometrists with a practical, evidence-based framework for evaluating candidates, matching patient profiles to procedure selection, addressing causes of postoperative dissatisfaction, and optimizing co-management.

"You Need to Consider Combination Therapies in Myopia Management" COPE Course 106644

Single-modality myopia control often reaches an efficacy ceiling in high-risk pediatric progressors. In this evidence-based clinical presentation, Dr. Thanh Mai details the mechanistic and clinical rationale for combining optical defocus (OrthoK, Soft Multifocals, HAL Spectacles) with pharmaceutical intervention (Atropine). Through real-world pediatric case studies, longitudinal axial length data, and escalation algorithms, clinicians will learn how to identify rapid progressors early, layer complementary treatment mechanisms, and manage compliance walls to prevent lifetime visual loss.
