About this Event
Note: This course is not a beginner wheel throwing course and you should have prior experience throwing and trimming pots.
Join us to learn how to throw ornaments off the hump and make your own trimming chuck to trim your pieces. In the first class, we will play with the process of making closed forms and throwing small pieces off the hump. In class two, we will explore different ornament shapes and you will have time to throw several ornaments. We will also throw a chuck to use when we trim our ornaments. In the third class we will focus on trimming our ornaments.
Katie is an artist, mathematician, and experiential educator with two decades of experience in all of those areas. She is both a painter and a ceramic potter. On the wheel she makes a variety of functional work and often manipulates the forms, adds hand built parts, and interesting textures. As a teacher, she focuses on providing enough structure and guidance to motivate, challenge, and support students and provides plenty of room for students to play and find their own way to make the work their own!
