Scammers often use fear, urgency, and convincing messages to pressure people into acting quickly. Led by Ray Rayburn, this informative and interactive session will teach participants how to recognize tech-support scams, fake virus warnings, suspicious websites, gift-card payment demands, phishing messages, and other common online threats. Participants will also learn practical ways to protect their passwords, personal information, financial accounts, and devices. The session will use clear examples, audience participation, and simple steps that anyone can follow – no advanced computer knowledge is required.
*Concurrent: Held simultaneously in-person at the designated location and via the Zoom video conferencing platform.
Accessibility: To request accommodations (large front, braille, wheelchair assistance, etc.), please contact CURE at least 5 days in advance at 219-980-6987 or [email protected].
