About this Event
This free event & panel discussion investigates the cultural, social, and aesthetic potential of abandoned and underutilised urban spaces in Adelaide. It begins by questioning the notion of abandonment itself: in what sense are places abandoned, by whom, and according to whose values?
This panel conversation will explore how undefined urban spaces are essential for social transformation and civic self-organisation. In a market-driven city, spaces that exist outside commercial exchange can provide rare opportunities for collective authorship and public life.
Hosted in the iconic Gay's Arcade, in Adelaide Arcade off of Twin Street, join us for refreshements, a short conversation and Q&A.
After the panel talk, we'll walk over to the start of the Shopfront Design Tour (tickets going fast), and finish at Honeydripper to farewell Adelaide Design Week. All are welcome.
