Join Pedal Power, in collaboration with the ANU Film Group, for a special screening of Across the Plateau at Kambri Cinema, ANU.Seven retired Chinese men and women embark on an extraordinary 3,100-kilometre cycling journey from Lanzhou in northwest China, across the Tibetan Plateau to Everest Base Camp.
Among them are a veteran explorer and stroke survivor, a soldier turned musician, an inventor with a patented car parking system, and a former rubber factory worker who has recovered from a year of paralysis caused by poisoning.
All seven survived traumatic experiences during the Cultural Revolution. Through their stories, we discover how a lifetime of resilience fuels their determination to embrace adventure and find fulfilment through a gruelling personal challenge.
The screening will be introduced by Cecily Michaels, Executive Director of Pedal Power ACT, and Andrew Pike.
