About this Event
Welcome to Academic Writing and Review Excellence (AWARE)
Join us for a day of learning about the academic publishing process, including how to write for publication, conduct a peer review, and apply open science practices in the social sciences.
This training, led by Dr. Emily Midouhas (Head of Research in Psychology and Human Development) and Dr. Vassilis Sideropoulos (UCL's UKRI Open Science Fellow) is designed for UCL doctoral students in disciplines such as psychology, education, and sociology, and aims to boost knowledge, skills and confidence in essential academic research competencies.
Whatever your prior experience with academic publishing, AWARE provides a supportive and interactive space to learn how to choose a journal, write a high-quality manuscript, navigate the submission and review process, and conduct constructive peer review. The training also introduces key open science principles, such as preregistration, transparent reporting, open data and materials, emphasising how these can strengthen your research and improve publication success.
AWARE is a highly interactive workshop, and we hope you will leave the day feeling more confident and ready to begin your next manuscript submission, implement open science practices, or conduct a peer review.
Don’t miss this opportunity to develop your writing, reviewing and open science skills while connecting with fellow doctoral researchers.
