🚨NARCISSIST! Oh we have a hot topic workshop coming to Dancing Lion Studio. My Dear friend Bren Worthington will be leading the way.
🚨This is a buzz word that is thrown around these days. Some declarations are just an accusations used for lack of accountability and sometimes it’s the real thing. Abusive. Demeaning.
🌸Bren wrote a book based on her experiences and expertise.

✅Learn how to identify and deal with narcissistic traits and behaviors in a positive and productive way.
❤️Gain a different perspective without blame or shame.
✅Here are some REAL LIFE examples!
🥺DEMANDING RECEIPTS, PROOF, EXPLANATIONS
Example: Your partner questions where you've been, demands receipts to verify your whereabouts, or expects you to prove that you haven't done something wrong.
Narcissistic traits that may coincide:
🍃Entitlement: believing they have a right to monitor you and demand compliance.
🍃Suspicion and projection: repeatedly accusing you of wrongdoing, sometimes attributing their own fears or behavior to you. Projection is a possible dynamic.
🍃Lack of empathy: disregarding the humiliation and anxiety their demands create.
🍃Need for control: expecting you to submit to their demands rather than treating you as an equal partner.
💔Why it can be emotionally abusive: Constantly having to prove your innocence turns a relationship into an interrogation. It undermines your autonomy, creates anxiety, and communicates that your word is not good enough.
🚨Repeated monitoring and excessive jealousy are recognized warning signs of emotional abuse.
‼️‼️The takeaway: You are a partner, not a suspect. Trust cannot be built through surveillance.
😳2. ACCUSING YOU, THEN REFUSING TO EXPLAIN THE ACCUSATION
🍃Example: Your partner accuses you of lying or doing something wrong, but when you ask what happened, they refuse to explain. You are left distressed and trying to work out what you supposedly did.
Narcissistic traits that may coincide:
Blame-shifting: redirecting attention away from their own conduct.
Entitlement: expecting you to answer for yourself while refusing to answer reasonable questions.
Hypersensitivity to criticism: reacting to disagreement or questioning with hostility or withdrawal.
Lack of empathy: showing little concern for the distress caused by leaving an accusation unresolved.
💔Why it can be emotionally abusive: The accusation creates uncertainty; the refusal to clarify prevents resolution. If this is a recurring tactic, it can keep you in a cycle of anxiety, self-defense, and appeasement. It can also create a power imbalance in which one person gets to make the allegations while the other is denied a fair conversation.
🙏🏼‼️‼️The takeaway: A healthy partner can raise a concern and discuss it. You should not have to defend yourself against an accusation that is never explained.
😳3. THE SILENT TREATMENT AND WITHHOLDING AFFECTION
✅Example: After an argument, your partner storms off, refuses to communicate, or goes emotionally cold without agreeing to return to the conversation.
🙏🏼Narcissistic traits that may coincide:
Avoidance of accountability: refusing to address the impact of one's actions.
Entitlement: expecting the other person to accept unilateral decisions about when communication happens.
Lack of empathy: disregarding the emotional distress caused by prolonged withdrawal.
😳Retaliatory behavior: using distance or silence to punish a partner for disagreement.
‼️‼️Why it can be emotionally abusive: When silence is deliberately used to punish, intimidate, or force an apology, it can create fear of abandonment and pressure the other partner into submission.
✅✅The National Domestic Violence Hotline explicitly identifies withholding attention or affection as a potential form of emotional abuse.
❤️This is challenging.
I will be offering a beautiful meditation and sound bath at the workshop to help calm the nervous system and bring a sense of peace.
