Get ready for an unforgettable evening of family fun at A Winter Night of Words & Wonder at the Wild Iris! On Monday, December 7, 2026 starting at 5:30 PM, the Wild Iris Café will transform into a cozy winter celebration filled with movies, music, games, and interactive word play for all ages.
This event is designed to be a low-pressure, high-fun community gathering where every child can feel confident, included, and celebrated. From playful team activities to creative movie-inspired challenges, the evening will feature games such as Spell It, Act It, Guess It, Toss It, and Spin It, along with winter and film-themed activities like Movie Title Scramble, Snowball Word Toss, Pictionary, Kids vs. Parents Showdown, Build-a-Word, Oops! Fix the Spelling, Act It, Guess It, Spell It, and 60-Second Team Spell-Off. For participants who enjoy a classic challenge, we may also include a Scholar’s Challenge round for serious spellers.
Inspired by winter favorites and beloved movie magic, this special event invites families to come laugh, play, and enjoy a night where everyone leaves a winner. Kids and teens are free, and adults are $10, which includes participation in all evening activities and helps support the Dunedin International Film Festival.
Even better, every child who registers and participates will receive an amazing swag bag. Your support also helps us ensure that no child who has the courage to participate walks away empty-handed. Sponsorships and adult registrations directly help fund participation prizes, literacy-related giveaways, and local family fun, while advancing our mission to create a welcoming literacy-centered community event that celebrates words, language, creativity, and confidence.
