Join guild director Rod Story for the next stop on the Guild's virtual wine tour. After our last stop in Tuscany we're off to Piemonte. The famed home of Barolo and Barbaresco. There will be wines from 7 different DOCGs (Demoninazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) and 3 different DOCs (Demoninazione di Origine Controllata). Have you ever had a wine from Roero or Gattinara DOCG or the obscure Piemonte white grape Timorasso? There will also be comparisons between Barolos and Barbarescos at various price points. Are the named villages better than the general Langhe designation? We'll also have various expressions of the Barbera grape including a bottle from the superb producer Il Cerreto. They'll be a variety of whites, reds, and a couple of dessert wines. How many Piemonte appellations have you tried before? Which ones are the best value and are the more expensive versions worth the price?
