About this Event
Directors Maya and Bhawin Suchak invite you to a special fundraiser sneak preview screening of A Walk For Every Season, a feature documentary currently in production about Jun San Yasuda, a Japanese Buddhist nun from the Grafton Peace Pagoda whose more than five decades of peace activism have connected struggles for nuclear abolition, Indigenous sovereignty, environmental justice, and nonviolence.
Through intimate observational footage, archival material, and following pilgrimages across the United States and around the globe, the film follows Jun San’s extraordinary life of walking, prayer, and activism while reflecting on what it means to remain committed to peace across a lifetime.
This project has been a labor of love for two community members and filmmakers who have known Jun San for over 25 years! Maya and Bhawin have been filming for the past three years, and to date the entire film has been self-funded. They have almost completed the principal production of the film and hope to be able to begin editing soon and aim to release the film in late 2027.
This special screening will offer audiences a short 20 moinute sneak preview of the film, followed by a conversation about the project with filmmakers Maya & Bhawin Suchak. The event is free, but we will be accepting donations and ALL proceeds raised from this event will directly support the completion and post-production of A Walk For Every Season, including editing, sound mixing, color grading, music rights, archival materials, and other finishing costs.
*Please note this fundraiser is not organized by Nipponzan Myohoji or Grafton Peace Pagoda.
