About this Event
Dr Daniel Yon is an experimental psychologist and cognitive neuroscientist whose work explores how the brain perceives the world, other people and itself. As Director of The Uncertainty Lab at Birkbeck, University of London, his research has earned him numerous national and international prizes, including the British Academy Mid-Career Fellowship and the Janet Taylor Spence Award from the Association for Psychological Science.
On 25 May 2026, Thought Club welcomes Daniel to The Vine for an evening inspired by his debut popular science book, A Trick of the Mind: How Your Brain Invents Reality, published by Penguin.
The evening is designed to challenge how you think. You will begin with a mini humanities lecture delivered by Dr Yon, offering a window into the science of perception and how the brain constructs reality. From there, you will join a team of four or five and put your ideas to the test in a live public speaking tournament, guided throughout by a dedicated facilitator. The debate is fierce, the questions are big, and the conversation does not stop when the session ends. Thought Club draws curious people from across London, and the connections you make are as much a part of the experience as the ideas you encounter.
