The Jeff Rupert Quartet
With Brazilian Singer Daniela Soledade
National recording artist Jeff Rupert and his jazz quartet will celebrate the music of jazz legend Stan Getz in a tribute concert featuring Brazilian bossa nova/samba singer Daniela Soledade. Stan Getz, the American jazz tenor saxophonist was admired for his warm, lyrical tone and nicknamed "The Sound." Rising to fame in Woody Herman’s band in the late 1940s, Getz became a leading figure in cool jazz during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. He helped popularize bossa nova in the U.S. with hits like The Girl from Ipanema. His many acclaimed albums include Focus, Jazz Samba, and Getz/Gilberto, earning multiple Grammy Awards.
Jeff Rupert’s 12 albums as a saxophonist and bandleader have all charted on Jazz Week. Downbeat Magazine said of Rupert’s music, “It doesn’t get much better than that.” His group includes piano, sax, acoustic bass, and drums, along with vocals by Ms. Soledade.
