Born from a deep love of Marillion’s formative years and the powerful emotions they inspired, Marquee Square Heroes celebrate one of the most defining chapters in British rock history. For those who came of age in the aftermath of punk and alongside the rise of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Marillion’s music spoke directly to the heart, chronicling love, loss, identity, and the quiet struggles of a generation finding its voice.
From Script for a Jester’s Tear through to Clutching at Straws, these songs captured a moment in time, melancholic yet defiant, poetic yet raw. Over forty years later, Marquee Square Heroes bring that era vividly back to life.
Featuring accomplished musicians from the progressive rock scene, including artists who shared stages and circuits with Marillion during their legendary Marquee Club years, the band delivers an authentic, emotionally charged journey through Fish’s tenure with the band. This is a lovingly curated, two-and-a-half-hour celebration performed with precision, passion, and deep respect for the original material.
Praised by PROG Magazine and supported by figures from the Marillion story, among them Bush Telfer and Stef Jeffery, Marquee Square Heroes transcend the idea of a conventional tribute. What they offer instead is a shared experience, a celebration of music, memory, and the friendships that continue to echo through time.
