Enjoy a whole day of dancing country dances, cotillons and quadrilles led by internationally renowned social dance expert Richard Powers (Stanford University’s Dance Division, Department of Theatre and Performance Studies, USA).Richard offers a programme including Saltator's 1802 Constitution Cotillion, a selection of Country Dances, an Ecossaise and Mescolanzes, Pollock's 1828 Royal Spanish Quadrille, and Pollock's 1829 Original Gallopade.
The course is open to anyone with some experience in historical or traditional dance forms. No partner is necessary. Please wear soft-soled flexible shoes, as these will be best suited to the style of dance.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. Lunch is not provided, so please bring a packed lunch or try a nearby cafe. There are no parking facilities at the hall, but parking spaces at the church can be booked via www.justpark.com
Cost: £40, £35 for students and dancers on a low income. Numbers are limited, so book early to secure your place.
You should be aware that there will be some photography and filming of this workshop.
The event is orgnised and supported jointly by the Early Dance Circle and the Historical Dance Society.
