A veritable feast of pipe organ music will be presented by organist Larry Hershey at 8 PM on Friday, November 6 at First Reformed Church of Lancaster. The free 30 minute concert will include “For All the Saints” by Leo Sowerby, Carlo Curley’s spectacular arrangement of “Largo” from Dvorak’s New World Symphony, and “Variations on ‘Christus Vincit’” by Denis Bedard. The concert will conclude with Virgil Fox’s dazzling arrangement of Bach’s “Now Thank We All Our God.” Mr. Hershey will be playing The Hill Byrne/Christiansen Memorial Organ in First Reformed’s historic 1854 sanctuary at 40 E. Orange Street in downtown Lancaster.
The First Friday “Organic Reflections” concert series is a gift to the community from First Reformed Church, a center city congregation of the United Church of Christ. Only 30 minutes in length, the free concerts begin at 8 PM each First Friday for the convenience of those who wish to spend the early evening visiting downtown galleries before the concert. Doors open at 7:30 pm. All are welcome to hear 30 minutes of majestic music that will refresh your soul and inspire your spirit.
