About this Event

Join artist Kalisolaite 'Uhila for a durational performance which explores the Tongan concept of fakalongolongo, quiet, in response to aspects of Gordon Bennett’s performance practice.

In 1992 Bennett began, Non-Performance, a durational performance that lasted over a decade and involved his refusal to participate in public events or engage with media. Initially limited to Australia but later Bennett extended this to international contexts in order to avoid the co-option of or instrumentalisation of this practice. Testing modes of withdrawal and refusal are areas of ongoing investigation for ‘Uhlia.
