About this Event
RUFAT AGAYEV
Rufat Agayev is a Brooklyn-based stand-up comedian, writer, and actor.
Born in Azerbaijan, he immigrated to the United States with his family in the early ’90s as a refugee of war.
As a teenager, he fell in love with hip-hop and began rapping, eventually gaining traction on popular blogs
while attending Florida State University. His music career led him to open for major artists including Wiz
Khalifa, Big Sean, and Mac Miller.
After moving to New York City to pursue rap more seriously, Rufat realized he couldn’t see himself growing
old as a rapper and pivoted to stand-up. His friend, Kevin Barnett, a writer on Broad City, told him to hit the
open mics. He quickly became a fixture in the NYC comedy scene with an act known for sharp writing, big
act-outs, and clever observations about everyday absurdities. While he’s performed at New York’s best
clubs, he’s especially known for bringing comedy into storefronts and record shops, drawing audiences who
might not otherwise step into a club. Thanks for the advice Kevin!
His debut comedy special, The Bad Rufat! is Executive Produced by Joe Pera (800 Pound Gorilla Media),
and Directed by his Best Friend/Creative Genius Shaliek Jenkins. The Bad Rufat! captures the magic of his
unique journey, filmed in a former Yugoslavian mob bar turned Record Shop. He’s a featured writer in the
HarperCollins-published anthology Alien Nation, host of Joe Pera’s favorite NYC show, Scorpion Records
Comedy Night, and has appeared on The Adam Friedland Show, Stavvy’s World, Subway Takes, Gaydar,
MESS with Sydnee Washington and Marie Faustin, and has a taped set with Don’t Tell Comedy.
YEDOYE TRAVIS
Yedoye is a comedian, writer, and actor, who has lived many lives and taken many side quests, including
being a story producer for the short-lived VICE Live, hosting Frederator's anime YouTube channel Get in
the Robot and its indie reboot, Beyond the Bot, along with Crunchyroll's first podcast, Anime in America,
and That's Deep on Complex.
As a writer, Yedoye has worked for Netflix, NBC, and DC Comics, and as an actor on Netflix, NBC, and in
the feature length Please Baby Please.
Yedoye mainly does stand up for people that don't like stand up, or who do like stand up and wish it wasn't
all crowd work now. And people who like political comedy, but not in a Daily Show kind of way, more like a
why was Noam Chomsky on Epstein's plane kind of way.
Yedoye's first hour special, Fatherless Behavior, was released in February 2026
OR BAREKET
Born in Jerusalem to parents of Moroccan, Iraqi, Argentinian, and Eastern European descent, raised
between Buenos-Aires and Tel-Aviv, and based out of Brooklyn since 2011, Or Bareket is one of the most
prominent bassists of his generation, as well as a composer and bandleader with an eclectic yet
meticulously cohesive style.
Winner of the 2011 International Society of Bassists' jazz competition, Bareket's distinct lyricism, rhythmic
dexterity, and groove-centric approach are clearly present in his playing and writing alike.
Growing up trilingual, Bareket is fascinated by how different languages and cultures intersect and diverge.
Musical Practice and composition in particular are Bareket’s method of investigating spaces between and
within languages, discovering, reclaiming, and weaving the different worlds lost through immigration and
the worlds he currently inhabits into a personal aesthetic that attempts to include and honor all of them: his
ancestral North African, Iraqi, and Latin-American folklores, his life-long study of Black American music,
and his experiences making music with some of today's foremost artists across a wide range of musical
generations and stylistic orientations; Bareket has worked extensively with bands led by the likes of Joel
Ross, Etienne Charles, Camila Meza, and Ari Hoenig, and has performed with artists such as Joshua
Redman, Chris Potter, Ben Wendel, Leon Parker, José James, Godwin Louis, Marquis Hill, Aaron Parks,
Hamilton de Holanda, James Francies, Sam Yahel, Marta Sanchez, Aaron Goldberg, Savannah Harris,
Chico Pinhero, Fred Nardin, and Sullivan Fortner in different settings.
The Or Bareket Quartet features some of today’s foremost talents on their respective instruments: alto
saxophonist Godwin Louis, pianist Jeremy Corren, and drummer Savannah Harris.
Bareket’s third album, “SAHAR”, was released in 2022 on Enja Records and saw the quartet tour across
the EU, US, and Japan.
YŌM, Bareket’s fourth album, was released on Enja in the fall of 2024. Featuring Godwin Louis in addition
to Corren, Harris and produced by Joel Ross. The album’s release was followed by the group’s most
extensive EU tour to date
