The Music Performance Group is staging a musical variety concert on Sunday 8 November. The group, comprising mainly semi-professional and professional musicians from across the Canterbury region, will perform music of various genres (classical, contemporary, jazz, blues, folk ballads etc,) on a number of different instruments (piano, acoustic guitar, flute, pipe organ, Koto and flute). It will be a rare presentation of varied musical talent in an amazing space. An unusual educational feature of the concert is the inclusion of performances of traditional Japanese music on both the Koto (Japanese Harp) and piano, augmented by a brief talk on the differences between Japanese and Western musical styles.
This concert is also acting as a fundraiser to support the refurbishment of the magnificent Bösendorfer Grand Piano in the Church which is used by the group as well as the Church and School.
