What’s that giant shoebox doing in Canterbury City Centre?
Step inside a travelling shoe shop where visitors are invited to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes – literally – while listening to them tell a story about themselves.
This free interactive artwork from the Empathy Museum has travelled all over the world collecting shoes and stories and now comes to Kent for the very first time.
Established in 2015 by artist Clare Patey, the Empathy Museum’s projects explore how empathy can transform our personal relationships and tackle global challenges such as prejudice, conflict and inequality.
What’s it like to have been a prisoner of war? To be a sex worker, miner or refugee? Walk with A Mile in My Shoes this Canterbury Festival and take a leap into the life of a stranger, discovering the world through their eyes.
