From Cora Mae, where the wounds began, to Momma Ruth, who passed the pain down, to Sister Nadeen, whose unresolved wounds became her daughters’ burden, each woman carries a piece of the family’s history. Aunt Eva acknowledges the truth others avoid, while Ann struggles with feelings she has been forced to hide behind.
Then there is Kenny Wayne, a man who still loves the woman he no longer knows how to live with. Behind closed doors, Nadeen’s words cut and her hands leave wounds he hides. He reaches for a bottle, then drugs, trying to quiet what he cannot bring himself to confront. He prays for God to deliver him, to help him become the man he was meant to be
