About this Event
The Baker Institute for Public Policy welcomes The Honorable Paul Ryan for a Director's Lecture Series conversation on "The State of the Nation."
With the 2026 midterm elections just weeks away, Ryan joins Ambassador David Satterfield for a discussion of the economic, fiscal and political forces shaping the United States. Drawing on his experience as the 54th Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and his work on budget and tax policy, Ryan will offer his perspectives on federal tax and spending priorities, trade and industrial competitiveness, and the challenges of sustaining long-term economic growth amid rising debt and geopolitical competition.
The conversation will also explore the evolving American political landscape, the future of party leadership and the policy choices facing the next Congress and administration as they navigate an increasingly complex domestic and global environment.
The program will conclude with audience Q&A. This event is free and open to the public.
